Welcome to Box Hill School

Box Hill School has a long heritage of delivering first-class learning in a warm, supportive, holistic and nurturing atmosphere. For nearly sixty-three years we have proudly remained a truly independent school. A founding member of ‘Round Square’ alongside Gordonstoun School in Scotland and Aiglon College in Switzerland, we promote international understanding, democracy, a care for the world around us, a sense of adventure, and the qualities of leadership and service.

Box Hill School has always attracted a wide variety of students, in geographical, linguistic, ethnic and intellectual terms. The focus on Global Citizenship is key to our ethos, and we are proud of our internationalism. The school’s aim is for about a third of our school to be from the international community, (not mother tongue English) so as to promote peace and understanding between people. Boarding is integral to our ideal of internationalism.

A Flavour of Box Hill School

Testimonials

“Creating successful lifelong learners and leaders with a global mindset who will always positively impact the world around them through the Round Square IDEALS." Cory Lowde, Headmaster
“Tonnes of tracking, mentoring, small group (and sometimes individual) teaching, lunchtime clinics, giving out of teacher email addresses and relationship-driven steering all help. So does the fact that the school promotes pupils focusing on their own growth, learning and success instead of comparing themselves to others.” The Good Schools Guide
"Teachers’ bonds with pupils have clear in loco parentis feel and you are left under no illusion as to their commitment to their wellbeing for each and every child. ‘The teachers are the reason I stayed on after GCSEs’, one pupil told us – ‘they understand what makes you tick as an individual and do everything in their power to ensure you succeed." The Good Schools Guide
